Juana M. Ramos was born in Santa Ana, El Salvador, and currently lives in New York City where she is a professor of Spanish and literature at York College, CUNY. She has participated in international poetry festivals and recitals in Mexico, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Honduras, Cuba, Puerto Rico, El Salvador, Argentina, Guatemala, and Spain. She has published several books of poetry: Multiplicada en mí (2010; revised and augmented second edition, 2014); Palabras al borde de mis labios (2014), En la batalla (2016), Ruta 51C (2017), Sobre luciérnagas (2019), Sin ambages/To the Point (2020), and Clementina (2021). She is coauthor of Tomamos la palabra: mujeres en la guerra civil de El Salvador (1980-1992) (2016), a collection of testimonies of women who fought in El Salvador’s civil war. Her poems and narratives have been published in several anthologies and literary magazines, both in print and digital format, throughout Latin America, the United States, and Spain.
