Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Selena T. Rodgers is an Associate Professor at York College of the City University of New York, School of Health Sciences and Professional Programs in the Department of Social Work. She coordinates and teaches Social Research Methods II. Her research agenda includes, post-traumatic growth and socio-cultural factors in multi-cultural and multi-ethnic groups, Black women discourse on issues of leadership, mentoring and trauma- and stressor exposures. Dr. Rodgers also has a passion for student mentoring and strengthening communities locally and globally.

Eleven years and counting...Dr. Rodgers has collaborated with several social work faculty members providing guidance to the York College Social Work Empowering and Encouraging Together (SWEET) formally Social Work Club in organizing their annual Legislative Action Day to Albany, NY.

Dr. Rodgers has served as the Associate Vice President for Safe Horizon’s (formerly Victim Services) Queens Community and Criminal Justice Programs, one of the nation’s leading and largest crime victim assistance and advocacy organization in the country.

York Social Work professor, Dr. Selena T. Rodgers is featured in J. Walter Thompson Differenter Program, now in its fifth year. The mission of the series is to highlight the achievements of New Yorkers who make a difference in the lives of African Americans here and around the world. The Innovators of Change documentary series celebrates Black History Month with the narrative of five everyday people whose efforts have had an extraordinary impact within the African-American community.
